Fundamentals of Roadway Geometric Design is an ATAP series of online learning courses. Each course consists of a one-hour video that can be viewed on your time, anytime! This series includes five courses.
Course 3 (Horizontal Alignment and Superelevation) presents an overview of the process for establishing the horizontal alignment of a roadway. Concepts to be considered and associated calculations are presented with examples. This course will be useful as a refresher for the seasoned road designer. It will also provide insight for other transportation professionals into the decisions that a road designer makes in locating the roadway and defining the horizontal alignment.
