The purpose of this course is to promote safety and the proper use of flaggers for traffic control. Flagger training is important because it promotes safety for you, safety for your work crew companions, safety for pedestrians (including those with disabilities), safety for bicyclists and safety for the motoring public. Much of the information regulating work zone safety is also covered in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). The value of the job of a Flagger is VERY often underestimated by the general public. Your job sets up everything else for success or disaster. The job of controlling and directing traffic is extremely important and should be carried out with pride. This class will include outside field activities which will include practice setting up a work zone using signs and cones. We will also review and demonstrate proper flagging procedures

This workshop should be of interest to contractors, and their employees, safety representatives, local and state employees, and all those whose work involves street and highway operations on or adjacent to the roadway.
