While the typical engineer may understand portions of the quality management system in their organization, they may not have had the opportunity to learn what is involved in an effective approach to quality planning for the customer and the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process. Learning these systematic approaches for quality planning can enhance your value to the organization.

Leading or managing the quality team in an organization involves understanding the characteristics and requirements for quality management systems. The importance of systematically insuring customer requirements are identified and met is a priority function of a quality management system. Customers and Quality Planning provides engineers and managers with the information necessary to understand the essentials for advanced quality planning and planning for customers. This class will help you prepare for a job in quality engineering or quality management; or, if you’re already in such a position it will help you be more successful. As an engineer you may be called upon to participate on a quality planning team and this class will give you the knowledge and tools to be more effective.

Customers and Quality Planning is intended to provide practical information that will enable you and your organization to understand and develop a systematic and effective approach to quality planning to meet customer requirements that will benefit your team, your business, and your customers. In this class we will:
     1. Briefly Review Quality Management Systems
     2. Briefly Review the Characteristics of an Effective QMS
     3. Relate Quality Planning to the QMS and ISO 9001 Requirements
     4. Overview the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodology
     5. Present a Systematic Approach for Quality Planning & Risk Assessments for Customers

Customers and Quality Planning is a practical course that uses real world examples. It is intended to provide an understanding of advanced product quality planning (APQP) and other methods of insuring customer requirements are systematically identified and quality plans implemented that will enable your organization to meet those requirements. The purpose is to enable engineers and managers to understand, develop or lead the quality planning efforts in their organization.

The learning objectives are for participants to:
     1. Review Quality Management principles
     2. Be able to identify and understand customer requirements using an organized approach
     3. Be able to establish customer planning and review processes and activities
     4. Know how to systematically plan for Quality
     5. Relate quality planning to an ISO QMS
