This is a beginning course in robotics. The course will present basic concepts in robotics such as degrees of freedom, kinematics, dynamics and controls. Robot topics include history, links, type of motion, joints, kinematic chains, degrees of freedom, type of industrial robots, wrist, end-effector, base frame, forward kinematics, inverse kinematics, differential motion, velocities, Jacobian matrix, singular configurations, inverse Jacobian matrix, dynamics and control.


This course aims to guide participants in learning the basics of robots with an understanding of:
 -  How to define the motion of individual links
 -  How to classify and identify the joints
 -  How to calculate the degrees of freedom of mechanisms and robots
 -  How to identify the type of industrial robots
 -  How to calculate the forward kinematics and inverse kinematics for a two link planar robot arm
