This presentation is as complete a description of surveying with GPS as one can produce in the time limits of a one-day seminar. GIS receivers will be discussed briefly, but not GIS processing. The technology of state High Accuracy Reference Networks (HARNs) and Continuous Operating Reference Stations (CORS) will be described. The method of establishing 'GPS Derived Orthometric Heights' will be covered in detail. A description of the Russian GLONASS system and the new European GALILEO system will conclude the seminar. This course should be of interest to those who practice surveying but also those who work in the civil engineering field, including county engineers, public works officials, transportation engineers, DOT personnel, federal employees, contractors and consultants.
