Business ethics is a topic of worldwide interest today due to revelations of ethical breaches among some of the world's leading firms. What does an engineer or technical manager need to know and do to ensure ethicality in business practices? These two modules-which may be studied individually or as a comprehensive set-are designed to meet four objectives: (1) To become familiar with issues and terminology related to business ethics. (2) To consider the viewpoints of various experts in areas of business ethics. (3) To help you begin to formulate your own personal code of ethics. (4) To promote ethical behavior in business. Each module features discussions of key issues by Dr. Sauser plus interviews with two prominent organizational leaders in which they present their own beliefs about business ethics.

Module One: Ethical Challenges in Business
In this module Dr. Sauser discusses several recent breaches of business ethics and considers reasons why some individuals make poor ethical decisions. Standards defining ethical behavior are presented, classical theories of business ethics are briefly discussed, and practical ideas for making ethical decisions every day are shared. Examples of a wide range of ethical challenges in business are then explored. The module features interviews with leaders in the information technology and heavy manufacturing industries.
